Before I Go to Sleep(15)

Directed by Rowan Joffe
Starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, Mark Strong

Twisty amnesia thriller that works pretty well thanks to the lead trio of Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mark Strong who are all very good. Kidman has one of those movie amnesia cases that mean every night she forgets the day she has just lived and awakes remembering nothing after her 20s. Firth plays her husband who has to explain their life every morning while Stong is a doctor interested in her case and perhaps more. But are they being honest with her? Can she trust them when she can't trust herself?
A few months back I caught TV movie with Zack Levi and Alexis Bledel featuring the exact same condition. The guy had a proper system worked out to bring him up to date every day and the film played like a rom-com. I found myself wondering how Kidman could possibly have NOT done something similar and thinking what I would do. Kidman's character is rather too passive for me, relying on these untrustworthy blokes when surely she could have developed some strategies of her own!! However, there are some enjoyable plot twists and turns and the slightly saccharine ending is perhaps payback for some rather nasty and shocking brutality. Decent entertainment. 7/10
