Jon Favreau goes indie after his big budget Iron Man gig in this slightly self-indulgent but entertaining comedy drama about a arrogant chef, Carl Casper who quits his high end restaurant job after a nasty spat with a critic and rediscovers his love of cooking by opening a food truck. Along the way he reconnects with his young son and ridiculously understanding and gorgeous ex-wife Sofia Vergara.
This is definitely a food porn movie - you'll want one of those Cuban sandwiches afterwards! Entertaining guest spots from Robert Downer Jr, Dustin Hoffman and Scarlett Johanssen (it's good to have famous movie star pals) and a good witty script only let down by a too pat ending and an over abundance of a Twitter plugs.
Not enough laughs to be an out and out comedy, not gritty or realistic enough to be a drama. Nevertheless, enjoyable if a bit of a vanity project.
