Hudson and Renee news

9th July 2003

I was fortunate enough to see the new pilot show Tru Calling starring Eliza Dushku (Faith from Buffy) and was pleasantly surprised to see Hudson Leick in a major guest starring role. The basic plot is that Dushku plays Try, a pre-med student who takes a job at a morgue. On her first night there, a young woman, Rebecca Morgan(Hudson Leick), is brought in who has been shot. Tru is dosconcerted to hear some noises and the woman apparently asks her to help her. The next thing she knows, Tru is awake and living the day over again. Yep, it means she has a chance to save Rebecca and sort out her no good brother and yuppie-druggie sister too. This involved a LOT of running from place to place. I think the show must be sponsored by a sports bra company!

Hudson is just an ordinary young woman, but I thought she did well, and she's looking great. She doesn't kill anyone or scream mind you.... The show is due to air sometime in September, and it may change before then (as happened with the Birds of Prey pilot that was widely circulated last year, but was reshot fairly extensively before airing sue to cast changes. It's quite strange that Adrienne Wilkinson (Eve) appeared with Eliza Dushku in Angel, and now Hudson co-stars with her too.(To say nothing of Gina Torres being a major Angel guest star this year.)

Renee O'Connor is keeping busy right now too. She's filming a small film somewhere is Las Vegas, and will be appearing at the San Diego Comic Con on July 19th.(Eliza Dushku is there on the 20th, plus a whole host of other actors and producers such as Sam Raimi, the Farscape cast, Joss Whedon, Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie etc etc....wish I could get out there! It looks like a fabulous event.)
According to MaryD... "Renee will be at the Creative Light Entertainment booth signing for a few hours. She’s going to be doing a ‘mockumentary’ about reality television for those guys, so if you’re in the area, drop by and get an autograph and say hi.

If you're in Southern California, check out the Comic Con website for more details.
